Despite his family’s generation-old ban on music, Miguel dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol Ernesto de la Cruz, a deceased Mexican music and film star. Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel and his dog Dante find themselves in the Land of the Dead. Along the way, they meet charming trickster Hector and together they set off on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel’s family history.

I’m from Mexico and saw this on Friday and I was in awe of every single detail, this really is a special movie and more so to me seeing myself be represented as well as my culture and customs. I was BAWLING by the end, really I kept tearing up from the amount of detail, effort and respect in this movie. I’m very curious how this is gonna do worldwide, it’s a great movie but I don’t know if everyone will get día de muertos

Are you gonna be watching?

I’m so excited to see this movie, I wish I was more in touch with my Mexican roots to feel just as excited about this movie even more than I already am

#4

Yes! I assure you you will be, from the first 30 seconds I was shook.

#5

I just came home from watching this. I took my mom with me and we were just bawling at the end.

It definitely earned a spot on my Top Pixar Movies.

Usually, Pixar spends MONTHS advertising their films. I hadn’t seen a lot of advertisement for Coco outside of the posters at work until fairly recently and I was honestly kind of scared. Not to mention, that it’s also similar to The Book of Life (2014), but obviously with a very different story. However, once I started reading reviews for the film and hearing how accurate people are saying it is and getting to see a behind the scenes look at the animation for the film - I am SOLD! I can’t wait to see this on Thanksgiving.

This is the first time I’m seeing it.

This movie is WONDERFUL, they captured us Mexicans and our traditions quite well. I couldn’t stop crying at the end.

#9

My bf and I both cried like little bitches. It really hits home with the loss of loved ones. Especially when my boyfriend lost his dad just a few weeks ago.

I just saw this last night. It was super educational but not in an obvious way, and though I did sort of figure out what would happen before the end, there were a lot of plot twists and it was incredibly engaging the entire time. I have been recommending it to everyone, even so they can just learn more about Dia De Los Muertos.

This was a really special movie for me and my fellow mexican folks

#12

omg i dont want to cry but i want to watch this. :frowning:

I just saw this today. It is an incredible film and what a wonderful way to not only educate us foreigners on a significant part of Mexican culture and customs, but to remind everyone that being authentic and striving towards your dreams and passions are just as important as family coming first. A wonderful film.
