Following their Doll Domination World Tour in summer 2009, the group took some time to work on personal issues within the group that arose during their time on tour and caused major tension between the group towards Scherzinger and the emphasis on her. After a year hiatus, the ladies began work on their 3rd studio album, Killer Love, which would feature vocals from members Jessica Sutta, Ashley Roberts, and Kimberly Wyatt, as well as Melody Thornton, who previously attributed to adlibs mainly and backing vocals.
The first track released would be apart of the film, Burlesque, starring Christina Aguilera and Cher, in Nov. 2010; The Beautiful People was released as a soundtrack single, though was sadly left off the soundtrack in favor o Aguilera’s recording of the track. A music video was released to promote the track and movie, mainly featuring the ladies performing in the club that the film takes place in while also showing clips from the film.
The group wouldn’t release an official single until January 2011, following a performance of said single, Poison, and new track Club Banger Nation, as well as their hit single, Buttons, on Dick Clark’s New Years Rockin’ Eve 2011. The single was met with praise among critics, one stating that “The Pussycat Dolls know where they are strong and they just kicked it up a notch, fans are sure to love this return from the group after last year’s release of The Beautiful People, that sadly didn’t make much of an impact for the group as whole.” The single would become a Top 20 hit, peaking at #15 on the Hot 100
The group released their second single, Wet, on May 3, along with the album pre-order; the single was again met with praise and gave the group a Top 10 hit, peaking at #9.
The album is released June 7th, and met with great praise from fans and critics alike, due to the addition of all the members’ vocals, not solely Scherzinger’s like their previous two albums. The album debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200, the group would later go on tour in support of the album.
