This album is one that really made an impact on me. Although I was only 9 and 10 during the album era’s run and didn’t listen to the album fully from beginning to end until I was around 14, I distinctly remember how the music videos made me feel during the former. I remember seeing Everytime on MTV and the empty feeling I had when she “died” is something I still remember to this day. I think that was one of the first times I came to terms with understanding death. Also, it’s particularly interesting that she predicted her own future struggles with fame.
Looking back as an adult, I really appreciate the artistry of this album. It’s one of the most interesting moments in pop culture for me.
