Couldn’t remember my old username from years ago, and since it came with an email address I no longer have, had to make a new account. This thread was my first visit because as someone who used to hang out on here constantly, I am so disappointed in the amount of recent posts! YIKES.
What exactly happened?
We built a shinny new SIN and everyone grew up… It’s not right to point fingers and blame anyone but we all are what make SIN, it’s a community. Over the last 5 years it was hard trying to see new members fit in and everyone grew up and moved on with no new replacements. There really wasn’t a new base joining to stick around. The old SIN was just too old for a newer audience, they didn’t get it. I’ve been here making sure everything has been kept running and just as bad as you the loyal SINNERS want the lively SIN back too… Please take the time to let us know how we can improve the community with our current board…
What do you think can help? New mods? New sections? New rules?
Lol, if that nose could grow any bigger from the bullshit you’re spewing right now. It’s not only absolutely laughable and hilarious that you would put the blame on this forum’s failure on everyone else except for yourself, but just plain embarrassing now. How about taking some personal responsibility for once? You don’t want anyone pointing fingers because YOU are the reason this forum has gone to hell. It was the old members that kept this shit on life support for months while you just disappeared. When even your team of moderators jumped ship and gave up after you fail to communicate with any of them for close to A YEAR now, what do you expect to happen?

You leave SIN “3.0” and promise all this bullshit that never comes to fruition and instead leave it half done and disappear for close to a year, then you come back with SIN “4.0” after that failed and repeat the same process. Everyone didn’t “grow up,” they just grew tired of your bullshit and incompetence. There wasn’t a new base to join because there was NOTHING TO JOIN in the first place and new members couldn’t even sign up for an entire year. What’s not to get exactly? Your incompetence? Because that was well on display far before your shitty “upgrades.” By the way, congrats on somehow making the forum look even worse with every new “upgrade,” I didn’t think that was possible, but you sure proved me wrong.
How about you get your shit together and take some responsibility for your incompetence. Cause it sure as hell is not our fault this forum is the way it is now, that’s yours. Enjoy whatever graveyard remains of your forum, stupid bitch.

I cannot BELIEVE you’re trying to shift the blame for the forum’s downfall onto the members that made this forum what it is. You are the creator and sole administrator of SIN, it’s your job to keep this forum happy, healthy and active. You barely even visit for months at a time and don’t even bother to check in with the moderation team. I can’t remember the last time we had one of those “monthly” meetings that you insisted we all attend.
This is the first time I’ve bothered to log in for just over a month, Jr hasn’t been online in over a month and Rey in almost 3, Alex is still active but to a far lesser extent than he used to be. It’s incredibly difficult to do our jobs on this forum when even you, the creator, seemingly cannot be bothered to.
I’m done moderating this forum and trying to keep this sinking ship afloat. The place I’ve been coming to for 10 years to communicate with a vibrant community of pop music fans is dead. And it’s your fault, not ours.
For what it’s worth a lot of the “new members” only joined to exploit the Lolene. I can’t recall any regular new members on the previous incarnations of SIN that stuck around longer than a few days before realising that the legwork to get into the Lolene wasn’t worth it. The only other members that joined and tried talking were basically all Shor stalking the older members under various new accounts. That, coupled with the year long downtimes (it went down the first time on my birthday and still wasn’t up 365 days later when I checked just for the sake of visualisation) was enough to send the majority of the less committed members away.
I respect and appreciate that there was an effort to rekindle the flame with this new SIN, even in the downtime when it was purely just a chatbox on the main page it was still nice to talk to the old regulars. But in the end younger movements like stan twitter took over during the downtime, and sites like LanaBoards/ATRL where people could just mess around took over. SIN wasn’t/isn’t like those sites, in that the regular community isn’t all under the age of 13 and has nothing to do all day except tweet and spam. We’ve grown up with the site that’s true, and most of us now have jobs and lives and relationships so a decay in frequent posters is inevitable. It’s a difficult predicament because SIN’s current strategy/community isn’t sustainable, but to become a sustainable music/pop culture forum it means you might have to sacrifice the quality and instead try and appeal to younger audiences. I’m not sure what the answer is, or what you need to do, but it’s something to think about. We’ve had fun over the years, and at the end of the day we won’t forget that, but sometimes it’s better to let things die with dignity.

It really is a shame that it all has come down to this but God knows we, the mods tried, the old SIN was good, maybe it wasn’t fresh but it worked, us the community made it work. With all the attempts at making SIN fresh and current and the long waiting periods I can safely say that was the reason of our downfall and pretty much killed what was left. At this point I think it’s impossible to be what we once were for different reasons and it really is a shame, I used to be here daily and I tried to keep a lot of the sections alive and it was the same for other members and other sections. We had a nice run but sadly I think SIN has run its course and at this point I’m not sure if I want to be part of another attempt at bringing this place back.

Alex is right most people only joined to take advantage of the Lolene that is for sure. Yes, there were down times but hell it’s been over a year and the site has been running without any MAJOR problems and visitors went back up. Those who want to blame me can all they want, I REALLY don’t care. Any some of you took my post the wrong way with saying it’s everyone, I don’t want any finger pointing so don’t bring it up again!
I’m looking at the bright side of things and want others around with a positive attitude to be around. All the hate, breeds hate. I’m getting a sick of it. There’s going to be more communication with the current Mods and new Mod will be able to join if you want the best for SIN. There’s still LOVE for SIN and you can choose to be apart of it or not.
Someone’s throwing a bitch fit. How fucking appropriate. Stomp your feet around like the two year old that you are.
My thoughts exactly.
I’ve moved on and so have many others. That’s all I’m going to say on that matter.
